Handicaps
Each team is assigned a handicap based on historical performance. These are entered into the 18Birdies app as 18-hole handicaps each day. Handicaps will be adjusted each year.
Scoring (via 18Birdies App)
- Handicaps are applied hole-by-hole using Lake Carroll’s stroke index.
- The app automatically applies strokes to the most difficult holes.
- Net score determines placement after 36 holes.
- Tie-breaker: Use 18Birdies Auto-Tiebreaker or, if the course allows, a playoff.
18Birdies Auto Tiebreaker: Winner is determined by the best score for the last 9 holes, then the last 6, then the last 3 holes, then the last 18 holes.
Playoff: The teams that are tied play a sudden death playoff until a winner is determined.
Local Rules | Out of Bounds & Lost Ball
Players may choose one of two options if a ball is lost or OB (white or red stakes):
1. Lateral Drop Option (Tanuki Local Rule): Take a drop within two club lengths of where the ball last crossed into the OB area (even if marked with white stakes). Must not be closer to the hole. This option carries a 1-stroke penalty, playing your 3rd shot.
2. Traditional stroke-and-distance: Re-hit from the previous spot with a 1-stroke penalty.
